Membership is open to all interested individuals who have read and signed an agreement to abide by and understand the USAS code of ethics
USAS Code of Ethics
Utah Statewide Archaeological Society (USAS) is a non-profit group of professional and avocational members dedicated to proper management of both historic and prehistoric cultural resources.
The following principles have been adopted by USAS:
To comply fully with all federal, state and tribal laws relating to historic and prehistoric archaeological sites and their preservation.
To support policies and educational programs designed to protect our cultural heritage and Utah’s antiquities.
To respect the dignities of peoples whose cultural histories and spiritual practices may be represented by archaeological resources.
To conduct fieldwork only under the auspices of a permitted professional archaeologist.
To treat all archaeological matters with honesty, integrity and respect.
Any fieldwork must be done under the auspices of a permitted professional archaeologists and this includes survey, recording, excavation and collection of any artifacts or cultural material.
To be stewards of our cultural resources and report any vandalism or looting of cultural resources to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
To become a member, print the membership application form,
fill it out with the enclosed fee and mail to the Chapter
president. If you are in an area where there is an inactive
chapter and are interested in reactivating or starting one,
please contact Marty and Darrell Thomas for necessary information.
